Marcus Willis
Marcus was financially struggling to stay on the ITF futures tour until A1 stepped in with funds and free management at the end of 2012. Incredibly Marcus quickley climbed from an ATP ranking of 1020 to 428 in only 9 months. Marcus is currently world ATP ranked 403, GB No 9 and plays No 1 for A1 Pharmaceuticals and his county Berkshire.
Gary realised Marcus's huge potential when he witnessed him win impressivley at junior Queens 2007. At 17 Marcus achieved a very impressive ITF junior world ranking No 12 and No 1 in GB highlighting his mens top 100 potential.
After Marcus lost his LTA funding and dropped dramaticaly down the rankings, Gary quickly stepped in as manager and with A1 Pharmaceuticals providing sponsorship Marcus quickly rose in the world rankings and won his first pro singles tournament within 3 months - The 2013 Glasgow pro futures singles title, and is currently ranked 403 world ranking. The goal is to achieve a world top 100 singles ranking and regulary compete in grand slams by 2018.
Although Marcus achieved a mens ATP singles ranking in 2007 aged only 17 he did not win his first pro futures mens single title until Febuary 2013 which came quickly with in 3 months of his A1 sponsorship highlighting the importance of the combination of a progressive mentoring and funding programe for young British tennis players.
Played a key role in securing the national Aegon team title in 2014 and remains our No 1 singles and doubles player in our attempt to become our first club in Aegon team history to successfully defend a national team title.
